It's hard to make good choices when buying car audio gear. Finding the right mix of features in a size and shape that fits your dash while producing great sound quality at a great price is incredibly difficult.

Well, HiFiVega found a Kenwood eXcelon KDCX304 single din CD and Bluetooth deck with a whopping 5.5 volts of noise-rejecting preamplifier output, across three sets of RCA pre-outs, similar specifications to the venerable Pioneer DEH-80PRS, a single din deck hailed by audiophiles to be among the best decks for your car.

The crazy part? The Kenwood KDCX304 can be bought for about $120!

The Kenwood eXcelon KDCX304 deck has a neat surprise: HiFiVega demonstrates the app you can use for adjusting the equalizer, simplifying that process. This is incredibly useful for a standard DIN sized deck without a screen. He notes the deck equalizer controls can also be set via the deck itself, though it's a little bit more complicated.

The tests HiFiVega runs on the Kenwood eXcelong KDCX304 deck include testing the watt output at the speaker leads, he determines where the internal amplifier distorts, and then tests the voltage on the pre-amplifier outputs at different volume positions.

I won't spoil the conclusion for you. Watch HiFiVega show the good and the bad of the Kenwood eXcelon KDCX304:
